What survives can still prove what happened.

A parent loses an adult child in an event quickly classified as an accident and closed. Months later, one bounded contradiction—an impossible timestamp, a missing image, a call logged from the wrong location, or another fact that should not be wrong—makes the official account stop fitting.

The novel is being developed as character-driven institutional suspense with a fair-play mystery engine: private loss, one contradiction, surviving proof, a larger pattern, and the consequences of forcing the truth into public view.

Development boundary: The Proof They Leave Behind is the current preferred development title for Project Still Water. Full commercial title clearance remains pending. No release date, preorder, price, retailer claim, or final format has been announced.

What to expect

Grief, proof, and institutional pressure.

01

Private loss

The emotional center begins with a family trying to live after a loss that was supposedly explained.

02

The contradiction

One small fact refuses to fit the official account and creates a question that cannot be put away.

03

What survives

Timelines, testimony, physical traces, and other families gradually reveal that the first contradiction may not stand alone.

04

Accountability without revenge

The project aims for consequence, truth, and earned hope rather than a simple vigilante payoff.
